The Nantucket Film Festival is back on Island June 17th to the 20th, 2010. Here is some basic information from the event and a link to more information.
Join us in June, when screenwriters, filmmakers, actors, film lovers and industry veterans come together in an inspired atmosphere of collaboration and creativity.
"FILM PROGRAM"
Nantucket Film Festival screens a world-class program of independent, studio-produced, foreign, documentary, and short films in every genre, including many theatrical premieres. Approximately 20 feature films and 15-25 short films are selected annually with an eye for great screenwriting and storytelling. Join us this year and witness what surprises the program holds.
"THE NFF SCREENWRITERS TRIBUTE"
The NFF Screenwriters Tribute is a celebration of a noted screenwriter who has brought distinction to the craft of writing for film. This red carpet event is hosted by Brian Williams, NFF Board member and NBC News anchor, who shows off his flair for humor. Past honorees include: Walter Bernstein, Charlie Kaufman, Ring Lardner Jr., Steve Martin, Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, Jay Presson Allen, James Schamus, Paul Schrader, Alexander Payne, and Jim Taylor.
"LATE NIGHT STORYTELLING"
Join us in keeping the ancient tradition of storytelling alive. Six storytellers tell their tales without the benefit of notes or scripts. Come hear writers, actors, filmmakers and Nantucketers tell stories both awe-inspiring and amusing. Past storytellers include; Jim Carrey, Jerry Stiller, Tina Fey, Laird Hamilton, Jesse L Martin, Brian Williams, Joe Pantoliano, Alan Cumming Mos Def, Olympia Dukakis, Ted Hope, Paul Rudd, Celia Weston, John Shea, Kristin Johnston, Peter Farrelly, Bobby Farrelly, Anne Meara, Rosie Perez, and Mos Def.
"MORNING COFFEE WITH..."
Nantucket Film Festival hosts "Morning Coffee With...," an informal hour-long conversation with prominent guests from the festival program. Talent reveals what happened off the screen while they were making their films at this morning gathering over coffee and muffins included.
"TEEN VIEW ON NFF"
Every year, a teen-only jury awards a Festival short film that most inspires dialogue on contemporary social issues. "Teen View on NFF" has also featured a seven-day program that introduces and teaches Nantucket High School students the fundamentals of digital technology and the development of a good story. The students work with filmmakers and technology professionals to create short films that premiere on the final day of the Festival.
"NFF STAGED READINGS"
Come hear new screenplays from emerging and noted screenwriters alike. Actors read from screenplays that are works-in-progress. The audience and the writers will share the opportunity to witness an actor's first impulse when exposed to the written word.
