Good Morning Fishermen,

Nantucket Fishing ReportDespite battling Nor'easter after Nor'easter, water temps are hanging in the low fifties and more and more fish are showing up! Through the winds and rain, we continue to hear reports of Schoolie Bass being caught on the South Shore.  These fish have had lice all over them and were certainly fresh.  Fish in the last week that have made their way around the bends of the island are now being caught on the North Shore as well as the Harbor.   Fishing is still not hot and heavy, but we are hearing consistent reports, which gets us all excited and optimistic for a productive beginning of the season!  We are also pleased to report that the first Keepers have been caught! It was also reported this morning that Bluefish are being caught on the south shore as well!

On the South Shore people are doing well with everything in their tackle box.  Jigs, Hopkins and swimming plugs have been doing the trick, but I've also talked to someone who swore by bigger soft-baits on the South Shore.  In particular, Hogy's have been the most sought after. When exploring the North Shore, soft baits have been the ticket. In particular anglers have been doing well with 7 inch Sluggos and Vision Surf Eels. Make sure to have a variety of colors on hand dependent on time of day and cloud cover, you will want to have multiple options.

Spring time is always adventure time in our books. Nothing is guaranteed, but it is a fun time to explore, discover, try new, test old spots and find surprises.  The advice we like to give is trust soft-baits this time or year, but always have a tackle box filled with favorites.  Fish arriving to the island in Spring usually show up hungry and tired.  Take advantage of their desire to feed and find the spots where they won't have to work too hard (This is why we love fishing both Madaket and Nantucket Harbors!)  Also, the fish love the bait that is tossed around the shoreline, so plug the surf and do not forget to share your stories!

Fishing Nantucket

My Buddy Fin landed this fish on May 21st.  He spotted over a 100 Fish that day.  Said the bite was tuff but lots of good action.
